DISTRIBUTION PARTNERSHIPS
Red Light Therapy Distributors: Territory, Terms and Support
A distribution arrangement is a commercial agreement, not a purchase. This page sets out what is negotiated, what is provided, and what is not promised.
Territory and exclusivity are not automatic. They are agreed in writing after the market, the channel and the first-year plan have been discussed.
- Defined model range for your market rather than an open catalogue
- Documentation supplied per model for your destination market
- Product and market material prepared for resale activity
- Warranty and return handling written into the agreement

WHAT A DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT COVERS
Three Things Are Actually Negotiated
Distribution conversations often start with the product and stay there. For red light therapy distributors the parts that decide whether the arrangement works are the three below.
Territory and channel
Which market, which sales channel, and whether the arrangement covers online sales in that market or only physical retail.
Margin structure
The price at which you buy, and what it leaves you after freight, duty and local marketing. This is quoted for your case, not published.
Support obligations
What we supply in material and documentation, and what stays your responsibility locally, such as after-sales handling and market-specific claims.
PARTNER SUPPORT
What a Partner Actually Receives
Support is the part most easily promised and least often written down. These four items are what a distribution arrangement includes.
Market material
Product imagery, specification sheets and manual templates that you can localise rather than rebuild from scratch.
Product briefing
A written explanation of what each model does, what it does not do, and which buyer it suits, so your team does not overstate it in the market.
Warranty and returns
The handling route and the timeframes are set out in the agreement. Local after-sales remains with the distributor, which is why the terms are explicit.
Replenishment
Which models to restock first and how to plan a second order, based on what sold rather than on the original guess.

TERRITORY AND EXCLUSIVITY
What Is Not Promised Up Front
Several suppliers offer exclusivity in the first email. We do not, because it is easy to promise and difficult to withdraw, and a market left unsupported is worse for both sides than a shared one.
- Exclusivity is not automatic, and is not offered before a first order
- It is assessed on the market, the channel, the first-year purchase plan and local after-sales capability
- Any arrangement is written down, with a review point and a defined model range
- Where exclusivity is not agreed, we will say so rather than leave it ambiguous
This is stated plainly so you can judge whether the arrangement suits you before either side spends time on it.
WHEN IT IS A POOR FIT
Cases Where a Distribution Arrangement Does Not Work
Saying this up front is more useful than discovering it three emails later. These are the situations where a wholesale order is the better route.
One-off or trial quantities
If the first order is a few dozen units to test the market, the catalogue wholesale route fits better than a distribution agreement.
No local after-sales capability
A distributor is expected to handle local returns and customer contact. Without that, the market gets damaged for the brand.
Exclusivity expected before any purchase
A territory agreement without a first order and a plan is not something we sign, and saying so early saves time on both sides.
DISTRIBUTOR QUESTIONS
Questions Asked About Distribution Terms
These are the commercial questions. Product changes and order quantities are covered on the other two pages.
Do you give exclusivity for a territory?
Not by default. It is assessed on the market, the sales channel, the first-year purchase plan and your local after-sales capability, and any arrangement is written down with a review point.
What margin can a distributor work on?
It depends on the model, the quantity, the trade term and what you carry locally. That is quoted for your specific case rather than published, because a generic percentage would mislead on both sides.
What happens if another buyer in my market contacts you?
Where an arrangement exists it is honoured. Where it does not, we will tell you that plainly rather than leave the question open.
What support is included for a partner?
Market material, a written product briefing, warranty and return handling set out in the agreement, and replenishment guidance after the first sell-through.
Can a distributor also run a private-label line?
Yes. Private label is a separate scope with its own minimums and packaging work; it can sit alongside a distribution agreement for the catalogue range.
What does a first distributor order usually look like?
It is normally built around a small number of models that suit the local channel, rather than the full range, so the first year is not spent holding stock that does not move.

Tell Us About the Market
A distribution enquiry is judged on the market and the plan, not on the quantity alone.
